Three Miocene Pea Crab (Pinnixa) Fossils - California

This is an association of three, 8 million year old fossil "pea crabs", Pinnixa galliheri from San Luis Obispo County, California. The orange coloration is due to iron oxide. This specimen is part of a relatively new find in the Monterey Formation which contains beautifully preserved crabs with complete leg and body preservation. These crab fossils are no exception!

The largest crab measures 1.1" wide. It comes with an acrylic display stand.
