This is a .75" long beetle (order Coleoptera) elytron fossil, collected from the Oligocene-aged deposits of Bois d'Asson, France. An elytron (plural: elytra) is a hardened forewing/cover/sheath that protects the wing(s) of beetles. There is a variety of flora fragments scattered throughout the rock. It is the positive split of the elytron. It comes with an acrylic display stand.
