1.5" Polished Morado (Purple) Opal Pyramid

These are cut & polished pyramids made out of morado (purple) opal mined in Central Mexico. They measure approximately 1.5" on each side. The photos are representative of the pyramids you will receive but being a natural stone they will vary slightly in color and patterning.

Morado opal, also known as purple opal or opal royale, is a variety of common opal found in central Mexico. Morado means "purple" in Spanish, hence the name. Unlike rarer opals it does not exhibit color play (opalescence). The purple coloration is caused by tiny fluorite inclusions within the silica: these inclusions can cause some morado opal to fluoresce blue to violet under shortwave UV light.
