Multiple Soft-Bodied Fossil Aglaspids (Tremaglaspis) - Morocco

This is a cluster of three rare, fossil aglaspids (Tremaglaspis) from the Upper Fezouata Formation of Morocco. They all would be right around 3" in length and both the positive and negative splits are included with the specimen. There are a few repaired cracks in the rock, but no preparation has been done on the piece, it's basically as found. The tail of the central aglaspid appear to be buried under the shale. Really nice coloration and a rare association.

This aglaspid has frequently been referred to as Leptaglaspis schmidti in the past, but Tremaglaspis appears to be more accurate.

Aglaspids are a rare type of arthropod which was probably related to trilobites. For a while was regarded as the ancestors to horseshoe crabs, though this theory has fallen out of favor.
