Flying Hollardops Trilobite - Great Preservation

This is an exquisitly prepared example of the Middle Devonian trilobite Hollardops mesocristata, often incorrectly referred to as a Metacanthina. It has been nearly completely freed of the rock and is displayed on a pedestal of it's natural matrix. To prepare a trilobite like this would have taken more than a dozen hours. The surface detail is great with a nice thick black shell covered in small pustules, and the eye facets are well preserved.

There is no restoration on this exquisitely prepared specimen.
