Bargain, .5" Pennsylvanian Fossil Horsetail Plate - Kentucky

This is a bargain, fossil horsetail (Sphenophyllum) plate, from the Breathitt Formation, Leslie County, Kentucky. It contains a number of sections of unidentified plant material and a .5" Sphenophyllum whorl. Sphenophyllum is an extinct genus of vine like horsetails from the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian aged forests that formed the coal shales of Eastern Kentucky and Ohio.

It comes with an acrylic display stand.
