.9" Ordovician Brittle Star (Ophiura) - Morocco
This is a .9" wide, fossil brittle star (Ophiura) from the Kataoua Formation of Morocco. It is Ordovician in age, approximately 450 million years old. This brittle star is very well preserved and show very nice detail. The orange coloration is natural and due to the oxidization of iron pyrite. A three arms from a second brittle star are visible along one edge.
