6.6" Tall Petrified Wood Bookends - Nevada

This is a gorgeously colored pair of bookends made from petrified Sequoia wood found in the Hubbard Basin of Nevada. Each bookend slightly varies in size, with one measuring 6.6" tall, 5.4" wide and 1.7" thick, while the other is 6.45" tall, 5.1" wide and 1.75" thick.

The surface has been highly polished and the inner wood detail is amazing. You can see the wood grain very easily. The work is done by one of the best petrified wood polishers around so the quality is second to none. The flat cut edges of these bookends have also been lined with a black felt.

Found only in Elko County, Nevada, Hubbard Basin petrified wood is becoming increasingly popular with collectors. This variety of petrified wood is characterized by its tan or white-blue coloring that is often enhanced by red, orange, or brown patterns. Most Hubbard Basin petrified wood is Miocene-aged fossilized spruce wood. One of the main reasons collectors enjoy this petrified wood is because the growth rings are often nicely preserved and show through the vibrant patterns.
