4.5" Fossil Maple (Acer) Leaf - Green River Formation, Utah

Fossil Maple (Acer) Leaf - Green River Formation, Utah #118030

This is a 4.5" fossil maple (Acer) leaf from the Green River Formation, Utah. It is in good condition and shows primary and secondary venation. There is a second leaf laying on top of the maple leaf, likely a willow (Salix). In addition there are a number of insect parts visible, and two unidentified fruit.

While the Green River Formation is best know for its fish fossils, other areas produce incredible plant fossils.

Comes with an acrylic stand.

A note on Green River leaf identifications. Over 60 described leaf bearing plants have been identified from this formation, many of which have very similar leaves. We have done our best to provide identifications based on the resources available to us, but we are not paleobotany experts and cannot guarantee that all will be 100% correct.
