3" Paralejurus Trilobite Fossil - "Flying" Preparation

The preparation on this Paralejurus trilobite is unreal. It's been prepared by one of the best preparitors in the world, who spent dozens of hours working on it, and it shows. All of the small details such as terrace lines on the shell and tiny eye facets are visible with no air abrasive burning or airscribe dings. Most of the limestone has been removed from underneath the trilobite, leaving it flying above the rock in a very aesthetic pose. A real amazing trilobite specimen.

Trilobites were a very diverse group of extinct marine arthropods. They first appeared in the fossil record in the Early Cambrian (521 million years ago) and went extinct during the Permian mass extinction (250 million years ago). They were one of the most successful of the early animals on our planet: over 25,000 species have been described, filling nearly every evolutionary niche. Due in large part to their hard exoskeletons (shells), they left an excellent fossil record.
